I interviewed Jacob about his adoption story and what it was like for him growing up in a multicultural family. In the video below you can see him personally telling his story of coming to be with his family and how their love for him really shaped him into who he is today. He did say that him being 'different' as a Marshallese is more understood to him now as he has grown up, but he has been shown so much love that the aspect of race has not really effected him. The difference in his ethnicity was never really something he dwelt on. To anyone adopted Jacob says, "Do not be afraid to ask questions about your origins; your adopted family will always be there for you and they adopted you for a reason." I hope that you enjoy hearing his story and learning more about multiculturalism through his eyes. If you or anyone you know has a similar story, or you have just been inspired by it, I encourage you to engage in conversation about it.

Hey Jessica! Although I am not adopted I know many people who are, so I found Jacob's story very inspiring. I also thought that is was very helpful in making me better understand the stories of the people that I know that are adopted. It looks like you put a lot of time into your video and thinking about this project. Great job on your blog again!
ReplyDeleteHey Jessica! Your video about Jacob's story is great! His story was very inspiring. The way he talked about how their love shaped him to be who he is today really touched my heart. I can tell that he is really grateful for his family and the support and love they show him. I am looking forward to reading your next blog! They are always great!
ReplyDeleteI liked that Jacob was able to be involved with your post. He seems like a pretty cool guy ;)
ReplyDeleteAnyways ... This was a great post. I know a few people who have been adopted and it is always interesting how they go through life. I think probably the number one thing they need is love and care. Jacob is very blessed to be in the family that he is in.
